Happy belated Weird Song Wednesday! I've got a really weird one this time. This is "Israelites," by Desmond Dekker & The Aces. It's a reggae song from 1968 and it was actually a number one hit in the UK and a top ten hit in the US. If only the charts today were as diverse as they were then. Anyway, it was the first reggae song to do that. (Well, it was the second in the US if you count "Red Red Wine," which I do not want to. Sorry, Neil Diamond.) So if you like Bob Marley or ska or if you're curious about the stuff The Clash liked, listen to this. Actually, whatever you're into, listen to this, it's a solid song.
